Before the Great Fire took place London was hit with a previous disaster , The Great Plague. The plague had been in England for centuries but in 1665 the "Great Plague" hit England. The plague was finally controled in 1666 when the Great Fire of London burnt all the way down to the streets most affected by plague. The heat from the fire killed the bacteria and disease.This is just one of the ways that The Great Fire Of London effects us today , as if there had been no fire possibly the Plague would have continued untill a much further date.
